Conference on the role of the UN General Assembly resolution "Strengthening the linkages between all modes of transport to achieve sustainable development goals"
On December 25, 2017, the Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications hosted a conference on the role of the resolution "Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve sustainable development goals" adopted at the UN General Assembly on December 20, 2017.
Representatives of the Mejlis and diplomatic corps of our country, various ministries and agencies, as well as teachers and students of the Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications, the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University for the Humanities and Development and a number of other higher educational institutions.
In their addresses the participants of the conference especially emphasized, that the one of the priority vectors of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan is the strengthening and expansion of fruitful, multilateral cooperation on strategic issues of the global agenda, particularly in the transport sector. The speakers also noted that the adopted resolution reaffirms the commitment to promoting regional and interregional economic integration and cooperation, including improving of the transport infrastructure planning and mobility, strengthening transport links and promoting trade and investment.
Moreover, the importance of sustainable, low-carbon and energy-efficient modes of transport was emphasized to mitigate and adapt to climate change and achieve sustainable development goals
At the end of the conference, an Address to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was adopted by participants of the conference.
