Delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held political consultations in Berlin

On November 22, 2017 political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Germany were held in Berlin in the building of the Foreign Ministry of Germany. At the meeting, the German delegation was headed by Andreas Peschke, the Çommissioner of the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, and the Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.

In the course of the political consultations, issues of bilateral relations in the spheres of politics, economy, transport and environmental protection, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations, especially the UN and the OSCE, were discussed in the implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia. There was also an exchange of views on regional issues and international security issues, as well as countering extremism and fundamentalism.

In addition, the sides touched upon the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, giving priority to expanding cooperation in the areas of health, culture, art, education, foreign languages ​​and the exchange of delegations through education.

As part of the visit to Berlin, the delegation of Turkmenistan met with the Executive Director of the German business association "German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations" Michael Harms, during which the parties exchanged views on the prospective areas of bilateral mutually beneficial economic cooperation. At the same time, the meeting discussed issues related to the activities of German companies in Turkmenistan.
