Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Secretary of State of the United States of America

On August 20, 2025, in Washington DC., a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Secretary of State of the United States of America Marco Rubio, during which the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States, as well as issues of mutual interest were discussed.

The parties paid special attention to the political and diplomatic interaction of the two states, both at the bilateral level and within the framework of joint activities in international organizations.

At the same time, the importance of regular contacts between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was emphasized, one of the effective forms of which is the annual bilateral consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the US Department of State.

The diplomats noted that the most important area of ​​​​bilateral relations is economic partnership, noting that its main components at present should be interaction in the investment and technological spheres. The Turkmen-American Business Council, which includes leading American companies, plays an important role in the development of economic ties.

The heads of the foreign policy departments spoke in favor of further increasing the potential for joint activities in such areas as education, science, culture and other socially significant areas.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the US Secretary of State agreed to continue regular contacts in order to intensify Turkmen-American relations.
