Visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to Estonia

On 28 March 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov visited the Republic of Estonia.
During the visit, political consultations were held with Martin Roger, Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia.
In continuation of the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Estonia.
It was noted that intergovernmental and interdepartmental contacts contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations in political and diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Speaking about the strengthening of cooperation in the line of the foreign policy departments of the two countries, the sides expressed the expediency of expanding the agreement-legal base.
The sides discussed at length ways to increase trade and economic partnership. The sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the field of digitalisation.
The need to intensify cultural and humanitarian cooperation was underlined. In this regard, the development of co-operation in the field of education, establishment of direct contacts between universities, exchange of students and lecturers were named among the priority areas.
In the framework of the visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan met with Erika Ellamaa-Ots, Director General of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of the Estonian Foreign Ministry.
A good level of co-operation at international platforms was noted.
In addition, the need to establish and strengthen direct contacts between representatives of business circles of Turkmenistan and Estonia was noted. The possibilities of creating a platform to increase the volume and expand trade turnover points were also discussed.
Within the framework of the Turkmen delegation's stay in Estonia, a study visit to the "e-Estonia" Briefing Centre in Tallinn also took place, where Deputy Foreign Minister Turkmenistan A.Gurbanov met with Petra Holm, Digital Transformation Adviser of this Centre.
