Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan in Ashgabat

On 27 March 2025, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, who arrived to participate in the ministerial meeting in the format ‘Central Asia - European Union’.

In the course of the meeting it was noted that an important factor in the activation of interstate dialogue is the trusting relations established between the heads of the two countries, as well as the results of meetings and negotiations in the summit, which have recently acquired a regular character.

The Foreign Ministers stressed the constructive mood for further expansion and strengthening of trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.

The sides also discussed topical issues of regional and global agenda of mutual interest. In this context, the sides discussed preparations for the first European Union-Central Asia summit scheduled to be held in Samarkand in the coming days.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed confidence that the Turkmen-Tajik relations based on the principles of centuries-old friendship, spiritual, historical and cultural unity of the brotherly peoples would continue to develop successfully.
