Chairwoman of the Mejlis received the credentials of the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Turkmenistan
On 3 December 2024, upon the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova received credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Turkmenistan Ms. Ekaterini Xagorari.
On behalf of the Head of State, the Chair of the National Parliament congratulated the diplomat on her appointment to the responsible post, wishing success in her noble mission to strengthen the traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
Thanking for kind words and hospitality, the Ambassador conveyed warm words of greetings of the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who addressed sincere wishes of happiness, prosperity and new achievements on the path of sovereign development to the highest leadership and people of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Mejlis thoroughly informed the diplomat about key vectors of the country’s domestic and foreign policy. It was empasized that among the priorities of Turkmenistan’s peace-loving foreign policy is the development of cooperation with European countries. It is successfully implemented both in bilateral and multilateral formats, including in the framework of the Turkmenistan-EU dialogue and within the framework of major international organizations and structures, in particular the UN.
The Ambassador was also informed about the large-scale projects of great importance for the sustainable development of both Turkmenistan and the entire Central Asian region. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the whole range of Turkmen-Greek cooperation. The sides expressed readiness to intensify cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, as well as cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The multifaceted work of the Mejlis was especially viewed at the meeting. In this regard, the possibilities of establishing inter-parliamentary ties were considered, which will directly contribute to the activation of interstate dialogue in all key vectors.
Thanking for the warm welcome and constructive meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Turkmenistan Ekaterini Xagorari assured that she would contribute to the further development of Turkmen-Greek relations and continue the course pursued by her predecessors for the comprehensive expansion of cooperation, which fully meets the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
