Talks between the National Leader of Turkmen people and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic
On October 11, 2024, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
Having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and thanked him for participating in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, the National Leader of the Turkmen people congratulated the head of Kyrgyzstan on being awarded the jubilee medal «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna».
As the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted, this meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss priority areas of interstate cooperation, exchange views on topical issues of the regional and global agenda.
Having expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulations, President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the development of traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan, based on mutual goodwill, principles of mutual respect and trust. Having expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to take part in such a significant forum, the distinguished guest presented the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan with a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi, published in the Kyrgyz language. It was noted that the publication of this book was a significant event in the cultural life of the fraternal country.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic constructively cooperate both bilaterally and multilaterally, within the framework of reputable international organizations, primarily the UN, providing each other with mutual support.
One of the key vectors of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz partnership is the trade and economic sphere. In this aspect, a significant role is given to the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Great importance is also attached to the activation of productive partnership in such strategic areas as energy and transport. Along with this, it was noted that there are good prospects for Turkmen-Kyrgyz cooperation in the field of agriculture, in the industrial complex, and the private sector.
A strong basis for deepening fruitful cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is the common spiritual and cultural heritage, as well as moral values that unite the two peoples. The interlocutors spoke in favor of continuing joint work to organize reciprocal Days of Culture, other creative events, intensifying contacts in the scientific and educational sphere, as well as in sports.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Sadyr Zhaparov, confirming the continued commitment of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic to traditionally friendly interstate relations, wished each other health and success, as well as well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
